I'm a wanderer...

"Well, I roam from town to town

I go through life without a care

And I'm as happy as a clown"~Dion

I can honestly say that, as Bangkok is made up of small towns that have been swallowed up by the city of Bangkok, much like Toronto.

As of September 1st, most places have opened up. The government wants to open the country to tourists for the "busy season"---November to March. The only things closed are spas, gyms, public pools, and movie theatres. However, on my wanderings, there are some storefronts that remain shuttered for good, unable to make a living and or pay the rent.

With the loosening of restrictions, I have been able to visit some more temples. Although some smaller ones weren't closed, larger ones were and still remain so. I wait patiently to see the reclining buddha, the emerald buddha, golden Mountain and Wat Arun.

I have been exploring a lot lately and follow Richard Barrow on FB and a YouTuber, both give interesting locations to visit in Thailand and Bangkok. I just want to get out in the exhaust-filled air of the city rather than sitting at home all day.

I have visited two wats recently that are quite unique. One, Wat Yannawa is shaped like a Chinese junk, as a reminder of the river traffic that once plied the Chao Praya river. Built by King Rama III in the mid-1800s.

Another unique Wat is "David Beckham Temple" or Wat Pariwat.

A temple with 2-D and 3-D images of whatever god you may worship from David Beckham(apparently, if I understood correctly, has visited) to Winnie the Pooh to Buddha and everything in between.

I'll do part 2 with some other wanderings around town.
